You go to catch a movie in the theatre. You take your seat, start munching on some popcorn, and the previews begin. 20 minutes later, the actual movie begins and you’re out of popcorn, need a refill on your pop, and have to go to the bathroom.
That is now begging the question- when does the movie actually begin? Normally, the showtimes advertised by theatres is the time the previews begin. Now, a bill in the Connecticut State Senate would force theatres to publish two showtimes- one for when the previews begin, the other when the featured presentation finally starts. Brobible says that theatre chains advertise that most moviegoers will be subjected to about 20 minutes of “pre-show material”.
The literature for the bill is probably one of the shortest and most straight-forward in government– It says that, if passed, theatres need to publish the time the trailers and advertisements that precede the advertised or listed movie, and the start time of the movie.
As great as some of the previews are… Not being done with the popcorn before the movie begins might be even better!
