Going to be honest here- I cannot tell you the last time I picked up a pack of crayons and colored- four-year-old me would be really disappointed. That said, the colors in the box of Crayola Crayons have apparently changed over the years- Some colors discontinued- most, according to Crayola, were very close to other existing colors. Now, Good Housekeeping got first word that the bygone colors are coming back to store shelves- in their own crayon, colored pencil, and marker packs!
The returning colors are:
- Orange Red, retired in 1990
- Violet Blue, retired in 1990
- Lemon Yellow, retired in 1990
- Raw Umber, retired in 1990
- Blizzard Blue, retired in 2003
- Magic Mint, retired in 2003
- Mulberry, retired in 2003
- Dandelion, retired in 2017
Turns out that Dandelion has a cult following- people took to social media to express their disappointment when that shade of yellow was retired- and others have been selling their old crayons on Ebay to dandelion-crayon lovers at a premium.
I might be buying some crayons again soon!
